A Minnesota native, Sean is a lifelong fan of Minnesota sports.
Sean Kommerstad is a Regional Director at Grimes & Company, where he partners with advisors to deepen relationships and deliver thoughtful investment solutions for their clients. He joined the firm in 2025 and is drawn to Grimes’ genuine “we before me” culture, noting that it shows up daily in how the team collaborates and in the strength of the firm’s advisor and client relationships. Sean values being part of an organization where shared success and trust are central to the work.
Sean earned his degree from the University of Minnesota and holds the Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA®) designation, which he completed through the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Prior to joining Grimes, he spent a decade as President of a Registered Investment Advisor focused on sub-advising and the distribution of NYSE-listed ETFs. Earlier in his career, Sean served as a Regional Director at Invesco, where he worked closely with financial advisors across the Western United States to distribute the firm’s ETF platform.
Outside of work, Sean enjoys spending time with his wife and son exploring everything Colorado has to offer. As a family, they love skiing, hiking, and getting out on the golf course together.
